HAMPTONS ART GUIDE

The Hamptons—best known as a world-class summer escape thanks to its glorious beaches and charming villages—is also a destination for excellent art exhibitions at its museums, art centers, artist studios and galleries.

Here are our recommendations for art lovers seeking engaging outings in the Hamptons this summer.

SOUTHAMPTON

Southampton Art Center

We are excited to announce that Artmuse founder Natasha Schlesinger co-curated Beyond the Present: Collecting for the Future, The Christine Mack Collection, opening July 26 at the Southampton Arts Center.

This exhibition presents works from Christine Mack’s bold art collection comprised of today and tomorrow’s leading voices in contemporary art—a collection Mack has built by seeking out, meeting with, collecting, and supporting the young artistic visionaries of our time.

Following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law Phyllis Mack, whose collection includes icons of modern and contemporary art such as Keith Haring, Nam June Paik, Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman and Jean Michel Basquiat, Mack forged a path as a collector spotlighting young American and international talents as well as highlighting Scandinavian artists, reflecting her own childhood growing up in Sweden.

Mack’s commitment to art extends beyond collecting: she is dedicated to nurturing these talents through mentorship, financial support, and the Mack Art Foundation Artist Residency.

At Home with Rosalyn Drexler presents a body of Drexler’s work that examines the domestic space—and all the strife, love, struggle, and drama that occurs in the home. The themes of this exhibition run parallel to the Pollock-Krasner house itself as a site where historic works of art were made while a complicated relationship took place.

Independence Day, an exhibition of fanciful new works by the Irish artist Genvieve Figgis, draws inspiration from eighteenth-century art historical traditions to play with themes of luxury and leisure.
