Artist Biography:

Wole Lagunju is a Yoruba artist, whose work is associated with Onaism, a contemporary art movement of the Ife Art School dedicated to reimagining traditional Yoruba art and design. His art features the Yoruba adire fabric, examining the changing nature of the traditional African market and contemporary globalization. Lagunji is a graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy, Nigeria. He is an accomplished graphic designer, installation artist and painter, awarded the Philip Ravenhill Fellowship by UCLA in 2006 and a Pollock Krasner award in 2009.
