CHILDREN WILL HAVE FUN LEARNING TO LOOK AT ART!

ArtXplorerers offers many types of interactive and fun art tours for kids and families to over 25 New York City museums.

Choose from private tours for families or your own group birthday party tours, weekly after-school tours, weekend tours, specially themed tours, all of which introduce children to the excitement of visiting New York City museums. ArtXplorers also offers tours for camps and curriculum-based tours for schools.

Whether you choose to come to New York for a special art tour with ArtXplorers or would like to sign your child up for a series, ArtXplorers art tours are guaranteed to bring the kids to the art and the art to the kids. Kids will have fun learning about art, history and culture!

Children younger than 5 years of age come with their parents or caregivers, those older than 5 years can be dropped off for the duration of the class. For the first 45 minutes we take the children on an interactive discovery journey through an exhibit. The final 15-20 minutes are set aside for an art project inspired by the exhibition. ArtXplorers tours incorporate props and objects for kids to touch, explore and compare to the works in front of them. They learn through looking and participating in each exhibit both visually and physically. The art project at the end of each class allows them to actually experience the creation of an original work of art.

Each museum visit has a special theme. Topics have included:

  • Discovering shapes and colors
  • Eye Spy at the Met
  • Trick photography
  • Learning about Egyptian life and art
  • Searching for animals in art
  • African art, maks and story telling
  • Ancient Greek Gods, Heroes and Myths
  • The Ancient Greek Gods of the Percy Jackson Series
  • Abstract Art
  • Meet the children who live in the Metropolitan Museum

  • ArtXplorers has visited over 25 museums in New York City including some of the most important museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum as well as smaller New York city gems such as the New York Historical Society, Museum of Arts and Design, the Rubin Museum and El Museo del Barrio, as well as auction houses and art galleries. Each semester the schedule varies depending on current museum exhibitions.
